“Fantastic Four” Reboot Hidden in “X-Men: Dark Phoenix?”

Posted on by

Based on the Fox deal and a description of the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix film, some suspect that the movie is secretly planning to include, and reboot, the Fantastic Four property for the company.

The film is based on a famous story arc in the comics, where the mutant hero Jean Grey, a powerful psychic, is possessed by the Dark Phoenix, a powerful cosmic being of creation and destruction. In the comic books, this occurred while she was in space for a different story line called “Project Armageddon”; in this film, to simplify things, she will apparently go into space to rescue some astronauts instead.

Those familiar with Fantastic Four can perhaps see the connection. Traditionally, the team received their powers during an experimental space flight, during which they were hit by cosmic rays. The theory some fans are touting is that Jean and her companions will go to save Reed Richards, Ben Grimm and the Storm siblings, who will nevertheless come back from the encounter with superpowers of their own.

This would make a degree of sense given the current deal that Fox is trying to make with Disney. While they hope to sell most of their TV and movie properties, complicated legal issues mean that they will likely hold onto the Fantastic Four while losing X-Men. It would make sense to want to promote their remaining superhero property while losing their heavy hitter, and this “backdoor pilot” could perhaps work better than their previous attempts, which have largely been slammed as lackluster movies.

This all remains just a theory so far, and some fans will no doubt be annoyed by Fox trying yet another attempt at Marvel’s First Family. We will have to wait and see what happens.

Pink Surprises Audience With Her Performance

Posted on by

While Pink is not one of the most famous pop music singers or celebrities out there, she is definitively one of the top ones. The female singer has now become a veteran and highly successful pop and rock singer that has a music history spanning well over two decades. She is well known for her hot pink dyed hair, not afraid to say it attitude and a counter-culture screw the authority demeanor. All of this has brought considerable attention and admiration.

So why did Pink get so much praise and attention during this year’s Grammy Awards? No, she, unfortunately, did not win any awards. She was nominated for the best pop solo song category at the Grammys with her hit song called What About Us. Now if you listen to any major hits radio station or like pop music, then you have probably heard Pink’s hit song numerous times by now. It is energetic, emotional and conveys a message of resilience in my view.

The winner in the best solo pop song performance was Ed Sheeran with the song called Shape of You. Pink was one of many women nominated for awards at the Grammy’s. Only one woman managed to get an award. This was Alessia Cara for the new artist category.

While Pink did not get a coveted Grammy Award, she did get a lot of attention for her solo performance during the awards ceremony. She is often known for her stunts, props and lively performances. This time around it was surprisingly simple. She just chose to sing her song without any special effects or acrobatics.

This was highly unusual and a surprise for fans who were expecting something spectacular from Pink once again. One thing she did manage to do, was to surprise the audience at the Grammys and at home with her relatively simple performance. She also actually sang instead of lip syncing and got a rousing standing ovation for her performance.

Ben Affleck May Not Play As Batman in the Upcoming Solo Batman Flick

Posted on by

Ever since stepping down as director of the upcoming film, there has been anticipation that Ben Affleck might not even star in the upcoming film. It seems that this idea is correct. Matt Reeves has pretty much said that he is going to recast the role of Batman. While this is rather disappointing to fans, there could be plenty of reasons behind this. There is no telling what The Batman is going to be about. Some even suggest that it is not even a part of the DCEU. One thing that is every bit as likely is that it could go into an earlier time in Batman’s life before he has met Superman and formed the Justice League.

While a lot remains unknown about the plot of the upcoming Batman movie, there have been ideas that it is going to be more of a detective story than an action film. One thing that fans have been complaining about with the Batman movies is that there seems to be too much focus on the action and not enough on the detective side of Batman, seeing that he is supposed to have the reputation of the world’s greatest detective.

While the DCEU has faced a lot of challenges in getting off the ground, there are plans to get everything back on track. As of right now, the MCU is outshining the DCEU, but even the MCU had its not so proud moments. Among the films that are being tossed around is Flashpoint, which is supposed to be a big event for the DCEU. Among the better films in the DCEU are Wonder Woman and Man of Steel.

Omarosa to Appear on Celebrity Big Brother

Posted on by

CBS announced the cast of the latest incarnation of their reality series Big Brother. The first teaser trailer was shown just before the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. The cast includes Sugar Ray singer Mark McGrath, NBA Champion Metta World Peace, Miss Colombia 2015 Arianda Gutierrez, Tony Award winner Marissa Jaret Winokur, UFC fighter Chuck Liddell, actress Shannon Elizabeth, TV host Ross Matthews, Cosby Show actress Keshia Knight Pullman, TV personality Brandi Glanville and Big Time Rush’s James Maslow. However, the contestant everyone seems to be talking about is Omarosa Manigault-Newman.

Manigault-Newman became a reality TV star when she appeared on NBC’s the Apprentice in 2004. Since her start on the competitive series, Manigault-Newman has made appearances on 40 episodes, including the reboots, Celebrity Apprentice and All-Star Celebrity Apprentice. She has objected to being portrayed as a villain on the show, stating that she was denounced because she was a woman, she maintains that the same actions carried out by a man would have been seen as business smarts and drive. Her time on the Apprentice was marked by outrageous antics and vendettas with other castmates. Shortly after her first stint on the Apprentice, Manigault-Newman appeared on the fifth season of VH1’s the Surreal Life. She and supermodel Janice Dickinson became embroiled in a personal feud that lasted the length of the season and led Dickinson to walk out on the finale. Whether they love her, or love to hate her, fans are looking forward to high drama stirred up among the cast by Manigault-Newman. Her inclusion on the season has already elicited comments on the View and CBS This Morning, cementing that she is the contestant everyone is watching.

Justice League and the Alternate Versions Controversy

Posted on by

By now, it is likely that a large majority of people have heard about an alternate version of Justice League, especially with the final version turning out to be a mess in almost every aspect of the presentation. One issue that people have with the film is that there are a ton of shots that appeared in the trailer that do not appear in the film. While it is very common for a film to have a couple of shots in the trailer that do not show up anywhere in the final cut. Another common thing is there to be an alternate version of the shot.

Justice League has tons of shots and hints of other plot points that do not show up in the film. One of the reasons that this occurred is that Zack Snyder has left because of a tragedy in his family. Joss Whedon has taken over and has shot some scenes. It is possible that he has filmed enough to make his own movie. The only issue is that the studios wanted to do what they can to put together Joss’s and Zack’s shots to make one movie. This has resulted in a disaster.

As of right now, it is unclear what Zack Snyder’s version of the Justice League film would’ve been or if it is even going to see the light of day. A similar thing happened with David Ayer’s Suicide Squad which has gone through many different edits until they have settled on a final edit of the film with a lot of the scenes that appeared in the trailer being cut out. While there has been an extended edition of Suicide Squad released, a lot of the missing scenes have been left out and the earlier darker version of the film has yet to be seen.

Rampage Attempts to Beat The Video Game Movie Curse

Posted on by

Many people who are familiar with movies based on video games know that they tend not to do so well for some reason. Even the best films based on video games such as Mortal Kombat have turned out to be mediocre at best. One of the most recent films based on video games, Rampage, is set to come out to theaters later on this year. The director of the film, Brad Peyton, hopes to break the video game movie curse. One question that people are going to have when it comes to Rampage is whether or not it is actually going to break the curse.

Judging by the trailer, it does not look like it is going to be much more than popcorn summer blockbuster fare. While it does have Dwayne Johnson, who has established himself as an action star, it does have a mixture of standard action fare and disaster movie images. Dwayne Johnson has appeared in both types of movies.

As far as the video game goes, the movie does take an interesting approach to the adaptation of the game. The original games itself had a rather simplistic objective where the player has controlled the monsters. However, the film has human protagonists. Therefore, the movie is shown from the perspective of the background characters who try to take down the gigantic animals as they tear up the city.

The movie does have some humorous differences from the game. One humorous difference is the flying wolf. This looks a bit like something expected from an Axe Cop show. While the video game curse can be broken, this does not look like the film to do the job.

The Different Incarnations of Alfred Pennyworth

Posted on by

Alfred Pennyworth is a very interesting character in the DC universe. He is mostly known as the butler for the Wayne family. However, some of the more recent incarnations of Alfred suggest that he may have been a hard edged warrior before he became the beloved butler. In the Burton/Schumacher series, one probably wouldn’t imagine Alfred as being anyone that would or could for the matter hurt a fly. However, Batman: The Animated Series tells the story of Alfred’s past before he became a butler.

Alfred Pennyworth of the Nolan universe shows more of a hint of a past in scenes like when he knocks out a member of the league of shadows in Batman Begins. He also recalls one of his war stories to Bruce in The Dark Knight. When it comes to this current incarnation of Alfred played by Jeremy Irons, everything about him screams that he has past combat experience. Given his involvement in the fight against the underworld, it wouldn’t be surprising if Alfred played a part in the training of this Bruce Wayne incarnation to take on the night as the Batman.

The DCEU has had a rough journey with only a few movies compared to the number of disappointing films that have come out. One good entry of the DCU is Man of Steel, which has been produced by Christopher Nolan. However, even Man of Steel could have gone better than what was released. Batman V Superman was a huge misstep even in its extended and recut edition. Certain key elements of the mythos should’ve been saved for a later installment. Because of the lack of build up, the major events in the comics that occurred on screen have been cheapened perhaps for shock effect.

How Complete Was “the Snyder Cut?”

Posted on by

onths after Justice League hit theaters and as the Blu-Ray release approaches in March, the DC Extended Universe fandom is still obsessed with the idea of a “Snyder Cut.” But how much of this coveted film actually exists?

Zack Snyder is credited as the director of Justice League, but left partway through due to the sudden death of his daughter; his colleague Joss Whedon then came on to do reshoots. These turned out to be quite extensive, and the two directors’ styles clashed quite a bit. Many fans believe that a cut of only Snyder’s work would be more coherent, but many involved have claimed that, since Snyder originally intended to do reshoots himself, a full version with his vision cannot be made.

Some have contested this, however. One piece of evidence is a February 2017 comment by Snyder that he was working with digital colorist Stefan Sonnenfeld; this implies that his cut of the film was basically locked. This is also implied by certain scenes which did not end up in the film but were leaked online, with a significant amount of VFX done and notes that it needed approval for the final cut.

Some suspect that Snyder was purposefully trying to finish early, due to the fact that his cut is far longer than could have reasonably been shown in theaters; his films have a history of polarizing theatrical releases that are made into slightly less polarizing DVD releases, including with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. So if it does exist, will Warner Bros. release it? With so much attention there seems little reason not to; even if it turns out to be bad, many fans will want to buy it. For now we will have to wait and see.
