Managing Mental Health Disorders through Music

Posted on by

Perhaps, we need much more than drugs to speed up healing. Music has therapeutic effects that enhance healing. In the Ancient Greeks, music was recommended to people ailing from depression. However, at that time, the music available was that composed of the flute. Still, listening to the flute today brings a relaxing feeling that calms the nerves. Advanced research shows that music is a vital instrument when managing mood swings. The different genres apply in different scenarios. You can use an upbeat playlist for a situation that needs energy. Playing soothing melodies contribute to calmness. The cool tunes may find their use when one requires rest.

Joanna Yu, a musician, and entrepreneur, has seen firsthand the power of healing in music. At a young age, her father was diagnosed with a case of personality disorder. She would later notice that her father remained calm and relaxed when there was music playing in the background. The realization resulted in her quest to finding the best tunes to soothe her dad’s temper. As she narrates, music brought happiness and brightness on her dad’s face. It was not until 2017 when she came up with an app that helps people manage mental health and illnesses such as depression. The idea came to her while studying music therapy at the University of the Pacific. After conducting research, she found out that she could combine the music and mindfulness, and deliver it through an app. She came up with the music app, Humm.ly.

Joanna’s goal is to see the app get utilized for the wellness of individuals. She has made the app accessible to millions. While developing and marketing the app, she partnered with a board of certified music therapists. They were instrumental in developing meditations unique to any specific issue including sleep problems and anxiety among many others.

Neil Young’s movie “Paradox” Coming to Netflix

Posted on by

It’s past, it’s future. It’s a Western, about peace and love.
Neil Young’s new movie, “Paradox,” is unorthodox–and that shouldn’t surprise anyone.
Directed by his partner, actress Daryl Hannah, “Paradox” premiered March 15 at Austin’s SXSW festival and will be on Netflix beginning March 23.
The 73-minute film isn’t so much a movie as a “home movie,” said Hannah of her directorial debut of a feature-length film. Her short, “The Last Supper,” won a prize at the Berlin International Film Festival more than two decades ago.
In addition to Young, it stars Lukas and Micah Nelson, with a cameo by their father, Willie Nelson.
Young, as The Man in the Black Hat, and his band, the Promise of the Real, are outlaws living off the land.
He told Rolling Stone that he expected it to be a niche movieas were his previous quirky films, Greendale (2003) and Human Highway (1982), which was about a nuclear holocaust and in which Devo co-starred.
Original music from the movie is available on the Web on Neil Young Archives, as well as for sale beginning on March 23. The music set also includes previous works “Pocahontas” and “Peace Trail.”
Young’s other projects include the Archives, which contain all of his music and are free (although the site will begin charging what Young says is a nominal fee by June); a re-release of “Roxy: Tonight’s the Night” Live; a few live gigs with Promise of the Real; and a novel, Canary, that he is working on.
When he retires, he told Rolling Stone recently, people will know. Because he won’t retire until he’s dead.

From Struggles to Fame Kelly Clarkson is Confident on The Voice and New Album

Posted on by

It’s been 16 years since Kelly Clarkson’s memorable audition for American Idol, which she later went on to win. Kelly is now one of the four judges on the popular singing competition show, The Voice. With eight hit albums a decade and a half later, Kelly has made her presence known in the music industry as a fierce, confident and enormously talented singer-songwriter. However, the road to her stardom and fame has not come without a few obstacles along the way.

Kelly clashed over creative differences with her first record label, RCA. During a time when record executives were trying to use the looks of a woman rather than their music-talent, Kelly found herself having to defend her position to be treated as an artist as opposed to a sex object. Kelly recalls saying to executives, “I have one life and I don’t want to live it like this, and it’s cool if you feel like my ship is sinking, but I just want to make sure I’m at the helm, that if I’m going to go down, it’s because of [me].” Throughout her entire music career, Kelly has refused to compromise her integrity and convictions as an artist, or as a human. It’s important for her to remain true to the songs that she sings and represent them in an authentic way.

Kelly contributes a lot of her success to the struggles that she’s had to endure on her rise to fame. At one point, she was living in her car after her apartment caught fire while living in Los Angeles. By the time she auditioned for American Idol, Kelly felt as though there was nothing to lose and felt her strength and courage during those moments. Her biggest influence is Aretha Franklin, the unofficially titled “Queen of Soul.” Kelly says, “Aretha is a flawless vocalist.”

Kelly’s newest album, “Meaning of Life” was released in 2017 and debuted on the Billboard 200 at number two. She has reached number one on the Billboard 200 more than 100 times throughout her career with over 25 million albums and 36 million singles sold worldwide.

Eminem’s Newly Released Single Reworked to Address Gun Violence

Posted on by

In recent years, rapper Eminem has become increasingly political in his music to address current events from his fascinating point of view. Now he has taken an interesting step in this vein. He has released a new studio version of an existing track from his 2017 album “Revival” that now includes a verse addressing the issue of guns in schools.

At the recent iHeartRadio Awards, the artist formerly known as Marshall Mathers performed “Nowhere Fast” live, debuting the timely new verse. Before he began, he was introduced by a student from Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida who survived the February shooting there.

Following that performance, a new studio version of “Nowhere Fast” was released that includes the recently added verse.

The original version of the song was already political, addressing a number of relevant issues. It primarily focused on fears of war, particularly with North Korea.

By adding the verse that raises questions and concerns about gun violence in schools, “Nowhere Fast” takes on an additional dimension, and it demonstrates an interesting experiment that other musicians might emulate. By adjusting an already-released track to make it sync up with current events, Eminem has perhaps increased chances that people will download the track or buy the album.

“Nowhere Fast” features Bay Area singer Kehlani, who, like Eminem, also released an album last year. “SweetSexySavage” was her debut release, and was met with favorable reviews from critics.

Given Eminem’s legendary career, “Revival” and each of its singles have not quite gained as much steam as one might expect. Some have noted that many of the album’s tracks feature odd collaborations that do not always work, and his lyrics often fixate on his own fame and career trajectory.

Regardless, the Detroit rapper continues to grab headlines and keep his hardcore fans happy.

In fact, he even won an Emmy for directing Food Revolution with Chef Jamie Oliver. In addition to hosting and co-hosting many television programs, directing several reality shows behind the scenes, launching his own clothing line, and hosting an array of holiday or milestone specials throughout the course of a year, Seacrest also stays busy with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation.

The Ryan Seacrest Foundation (RSF) is a 501c non-profit foundation dedicated to the inspiration of the youth of today via channels such as entertainment and education. Those dedicated to the RSF acknowledge that the brightening of the spirit for children and their families while undergoing hospital treatments can be a life-altering experience. Beatles Drummer Is Now Sir Richard–or Sir Ringo

Posted on by

Will it be “Sir Ringo” or “Sir Richard Starkey”?
The former Beatles drummer isn’t saying, but he has said he is pleased to have been knighted for his service to music.
The honor, bestowed by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace, is 53 years after the Liverpool quartet received Members of the British Empire. It’s also 21 years after Paul McCartney, the Beatles’ bass guitarist, received knighthood.
Starr, 77, announced what he would do with the new medal: “I’ll be wearing it at breakfast.”
He was with the Beatles from 1962 through 1970, when the band disbanded. During that time, he sang lead on several hits, including “With a Little Help From My Friends” and “Yellow Submarine,” and wrote or contributed to songs including “Octopus’ Garden.”
His post-Beatles, solo career has included several hit songs and popular albums, and he had a good run as Mr. Conductor on the PBS children’s show “Shining Time Station.”
Readers of Rolling Stone named him fifth-greatest drummer of all time. He has been nominated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, both as a Beatle and for his solo career.
Two remastered albums, “Ringo” and “Goodnight Vienna,” were reissued and became available Feb. 9.
He is still touring with his All Starr Band, and will begin a 21-date European tour in June.
He also has become a familiar, genial face on social media with his “Peace and Love” slogan, including GIFs with him flashing a peace sign.
His book “Postcards From the Boys” is exactly that–a compilation of postcards that fellow Beatles McCartney and the late John Lennon and George Harrison have sent him over the years. Proceeds benefited the Lotus Foundation charity.

Nick Vertucci Provides The Secrets To Making Millions Through Real Estate

Posted on by

It is not a get rich overnight process, and it takes careful calculations along with risk-taking and making sure you know what you’re doing, but getting into real estate is a great idea if you’re looking to make real wealth in ways that don’t rely on a volatile stock market or trying to get into a private equity firm. Nick Vertucci learned how to do it, and though he eventually made his millions in doing so it took years of learning for him to do it. But the good news is he’s now revealing what he learned to others at his NV Real Estate Academy, and the time it takes to learn there is much shorter and can be done by anyone with the will to learn.

Nick Vertucci has a genuine story of how he came from deep poverty and fulfilled his American dream of living debt-free and improving his family’s quality of life. When he was young his family had to work extra hard just to get by, and things got even tougher after his father died and his mother had to work extra hours. He never had the opportunity to attend college due to lack of money, and instead he had to live out of his vehicle for a few years as a young adult. Nick Vertucci did come across some good fortune around the early 1990s when he learned about computer hardware, and before long he managed to save a little money to start his own sales business. In time this business grew quite large, and he eventually bought a home and then married his sweetheart and began his new life as a father. But just when he thought everything was great, things took a turn for the worse.

In 2000, the tech industry, which had become the stock market’s goldmine saw its bubble burst, and many new web-based companies collapsed including Vertucci’s. He now found himself out of cash and extremely deep in debt. Not finding any other recourse, he began losing much of his valuables, but it was a friend who turned out to be his saving grace. That friend invited Nick Vertucci to a conference that went over real estate concepts and covered terminology. It didn’t make sense right away to Vertucci, but he became convinced there was something to the real estate market. So he began doing his own work on it, and before long he was buying homes that he would either sell or rent out. In time he achieved the wealth he had always dreamed of, but he started the academy because he wanted others to know how to do it. The NV Real Estate Academy emphasizes establishing a network, using tools like a 401k or IRA to fund investments and being able to spot good buying and selling deals to multiply your wealth.
