Warner Bros. has released a poster and a teaser for their upcoming film Teen Titans Go! to the Movies, with some more material apparently coming tomorrow (Wednesday, January 10, 2018).

In the teaser trailer, Robin addresses the audience, saying that he will have an important announcement tomorrow, but which he cannot share until then. “You can’t tease something and then announce something on the same day!” he declares. “It’s an internet marketing rule!”

Meanwhile, the poster depicts director’s chairs for each members of the Teen Titan team—Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, Starfire and Cyborg. However, Cyborg’s head has detached and is running around on wire legs, being chased by Beast Boy in green cat form; Robin is standing on his seat to yell at them while Starfire watches and Raven ignores them, reading what appears to be a script. It includes the tagline “The super hero movie to end all super hero movies. Hopefully.”

Some fans may agree. The film is based on the cartoon Teen Titans Go!, which has proven quite divisive among audiences. On one hand, it is Cartoon Network’s most popular show, but the fact that it is some sort of… reboot? retool? parody? of the popular Teen Titans cartoon that ran from 2003 until 2006 has riled many fans. The show also uses a brand of childish and sometimes mean-spirited humor that many find grating.

Teen Titans Go! often dents the fourth wall, and the movie is planning to do the same: the plot involves the team trying to get a movie made about themselves like all the other superheroes, only for the director to turn out to be a supervillain with their own agenda.

The film is due out in theaters on July 27, 2018.
